My boys!

The boys have definitely already formed a little bond. I'm not saying a rosey little bond...they love each other but fight constantly. They hate to share...you know. The typical (or I'm hoping it's typical) brother rivalry.

Campbell doesnt say many words at all. In fact, i talked to the speech therapist today about him! However, campbell has learned to say "no, no, no, nooooo" but only to his big brother!!! Like when trigger is bothering him or taking his toys! Yep, they love each other but there is never a moment of hiding our feelings about one another!!!!! ;)

On a positive note

Construction has started at our house!!! Last weekend, I thin I asked matt a million times...."soo! Do you think they are coming Monday to get started...they better....bc this is getting ridiculous." I even ranted to two of my sister in laws that they better show up. As you know, last Sunday we were in the er and didn't get home until 1am Monday morning. Then, I had to hurry and get boys dressed and at dr office early Monday morning for check up and breathing treatment for trigger and appt for Campbell. It took forever...I was exhausted from the er visit...exhausted from the all morning dr visit. I was just worn out. Matt ran to get ts prescriptions from waltz and I went to get us some Wendy's. I took the boys home thinking that I'd feed them, give t breathing treatment and put them down for a Long nap (and me too!). Well. What did I follow into our neighborhood and right up to our house? The dirt guy with his huge bulldozer on the back of a trailer. I really almost burst into tears. My restful and napping afternoon had just been squashed....that paired with pregnancy was a bad combination. Isn't it funny how you can go from ready to curse someone if they don't show up, to on the verge of balling because the do. Haha!!! Anyway, thankfully, he had to go back and get a track-hoe before he could start so the boys got a nap. I can't remember but I think I got a short one too. I have taken some before pictures but I'll have to get them off my computer...we dont have Internet (or phones) as of right now so I will just have to wait to post those. Since Monday, they have yanked (and I do mean LITERALLY yanked) four or five big trees out of the ground, done major dirt work, dug out the stones (disaster DIY project from before kids) on back patio, and formed and poured three different concrete pads (boys rooms/bath/safe room, master closet, and back patio) and poured a new part to driveway and an apron leading up to matts shop. FIVE days! They were hauling it to get it done!!!! They will come back tomorrow to get it "blacked in". It has to happen immediately since it's an addition. If it were to rain hard before it gets blacked in, our current house will flood! Yikes!

We did lots of window watching this past week. It's really been great bc it gave the boys something to do!

Aren't they cute watching together!

This is before the bricks were ripped off! Matt got a text from our contractor one morning that Said "Garson awake?" Matt said "I'm sure. Why?" he said "if not, she will be in about 10 seconds when I start sawing the bricks." haha! It was LOUD! So loud that I thought they would be coming through the wall at any moment.

All those bricks just laying in a pile to be chunked. So sad!

This was the day that we had to relocate to Liz and daddy's. They had to move our electrical meter and some other things so they had the electricity off all day. At 10ish, I had to meet a new cleaning lady at our house and I was pretty sure she thought I was crazy. I had to show her the house with a flashlight. Ha!

Concrete poured. This is the 2 new rooms, bath, and safe room. Pads always look so small. I keep questioning matt about the size of the rooms. And to the left, you can see matts new parking spot was poured too.

And our back patio.

I didn't get a picture of the master closet or the shop apron. I have a ton of pictures on my camera so I'll be doing another post when we have Internet again.

Seriously?!

So, Liz had planned on coming over to hang out today bc they have started on our addition to our house and it's been fun to watch them work. She got here around 9. I had already called dr Slushers office to Leave a message about campbell. We took him to the dr Monday but his cough has gotten worse and I have noticed (I think...it may be me being paranoid) him wheezing a few times. I had started him on breathing treatments but I thought he might need an antibiotic. They called back and really wanted to see him and listen to his chest. We made an appt for 1030. Liz was already at the house so it was perfect...she could keep trigger. At about 1000. All of us were in triggers room watching the men work out the window and trigger and Campbell had gotten out a pop up tent and were playing in it on triggers floor. all of a sudden, I hear someone fall over and hit the bed. With a thunk! I Waited for a millisecond and trigger started wailing. I ran over and lifted the tent. Oh my word. Blood was pouring down the front of his face...like something out of a horror movie. I really didn't even know where he had hit his head bc there was so much blood. I grabbed him and told Liz to get some rags. She did and I held pressure. Liz and I first decided to take him to the er. We started loading kids...and I kept pressure on ts head. Then, I got a good look at the cut. It was deep but was bleeding less. We decided to take him to dr Slusher since we had an appt for c anyway and let her determine if he needed stitches. I called matt and he met us there. After we got it to stop bleeding and his head cleaned up a little, matt took this picture. It's not long but it's deep!!!!!!!

I'm sure people were looking at us bc matt, Liz and I looked pretty distraut. And the boys were looking pretty haggard...especially t bc he had picked out his clothes and had gotten dressed in something that totally did not match. AND, his shirt was on backwards bc that's how he insisted it was suppose to be worn. Ha! And in the midst of the blood pouring all over the place, I didn't really take the time to turn his shirt around. Oh and this is what my shirt looked like. I'm sure people were looking at me. At some point, I did get to change.

We finally, after waiting an hour (waiting there has gotten out of control), got to see Slusher. She got the run down of triggers er visit and the treatments. She didn't see him Monday bc she has Monday's off so she needed a little update. She listened to trigger and said he was still wheezing...and it had only been 3 hours from his last breathing treatment. Ugh. So she told us to go back to doing more breathing treatments. She looked at his head and said that I needed to take him to urgent care for some attention. Then, she checked campbell...which was the reason we had the appt. He sounded good. No fluid. No wheezing. So she did an rsv test and it was negative so we have started him on an antibiotic too. I left and headed over to urgent care with trigger. Liz left in my car with Campbell shortly after to take him home. Matt came back to green clinic to help with trigger. (he had left after realizing that t was okay) Dr Kirby came in and said he would need stitches. I started to try to prepare trigger that he was getting a shot. He started getting upset. Told me he wanted to go back to the "real dr". Haha. He cried (and I almost balled) while they numbed it. I have to say that it was disgusting. They dug down in the cut with the needle to put numbing medicine. Then, he stopped crying and they did the stitches. He was Sooooo brave. I was shocked at how good he did!!!! It only took three stitches.

This poor baby has had a rough week-week and a half. An eeg, Two shots, xray, breathing treatments, er visit, rsv and flu test, and stitches!!!!!! I'm hoping thats the last of our dr visits for awhile.

And it continues around here!

So, trigger's nose started running Friday. I thought "great. Change in temp and now we have a cold". He started running 101 temp. Saturday morning, still runny nose and still 101. Trigger wasn't acting himself and was pretty grumpy. This is how we spent alot of Saturday...watching tv and relaxing.

We (me and the boys)didn't go to church....campbell woke with a runny nose. After naps on sunday, his breathing started sounding bad...then it turned to wheezing Which he's never done before. I tried to say it would be ok but i knew deep down that we would be in the er. Well, matt put him to bed and I told matt that I was giving trigger 30 minutes and then I was going to listen to him. If he wasn't better, he was getting up and going to er. Well, 5 minutes after we put him down, I heard, "maaaamaaaaa, I can't breav (breathe)". I looked at matt and said "we are going to er". I went and got him and some clothes (as you will notice, it's apparently our hospital/dr outfit...it's his favorite and comfy!). I gave him to matt and he sounded awful. He was breathing with his belly and very rapid. And I noticed that his chest was dipping too. So, matt held him for a second while I went and rocked Campbell (who was already wailing bc he now had low grade temp). I got Trigger dressed and loaded him up and headed to the er around 8. When we got there, I filled out the form and sat in the waiting room. It was Packed...I've never seen that many people in the er!!!! Fortunately, and im not sure why, we got called back immediately. The nurse checked his oxygen levels (which were 90) and she rushed us back to a room. She got the real pulse oxygen machine hooked up and it read better at 96-97. Trigger was not a fan of the red light on his thumb. Not at all.

In fact, he held his thumb up and wouldn't put it down. A little like his momma and an iv! ;)

The dr came in and he was so nice!!!! He said he was doing alot of belly breathing to make up for not being able to use his chest. He said he was retracting. When he listened to him, he had fluid in his right lung and said it sounded like the beginning of pneumonia. We were to have chest xray, breathing treatments, and flu and rsv tests. Matt showed up sometime about now...Liz went to watch Campbell. I'm glad he came bc they came shortly after and made me leave the room completely during the xray. I'm not sure how I could've left my baby in the room to have chest xray. Then, they did a breathing treatment. He had to keep his hand on his eye the whole time. Who knows why?!? He wasn't a fan of the mask but didn't cry.

The resp therapist is friends with matts sister so she was so sweet to us and gave trigger a Popsicle right after...he actually got another Popsicle at some point.

The xray showed that he did have fluid on his right lung. They didn't diagnose him with pneumonia though. Just really bad bronchitis. After 3 or so hours of waiting after the breathing treatment (a wreck and a broken hip case all came in at once so we were put on the back burner), the dr came back in and listened to him and said he sounded better but still had alot of fluid. He said t had to get a rosefrin (spelling?) shot and sent us home with a zpac prescription. He also said that trigger had to see his pediatrician first thing in the morning bc he needed another breathing treatment. He said he was still belly breathing and retracting but was better. He also said that if we came back in, they would probably admit him. So, we got the shot (awful!!!) and trigger fell sound asleep. We got home at 1.

The next morning, we got an appt with the pediatrician at 9am. I was so glad that we got an early appt bc he woke up already wheezing and I knew he needed a breathing treatment. The problem was that we had to wait over an hour to get called back. I was quite aggravated. In fact, the knew that we had been to er and that the dr Said he needed a breathing treatment and I reminded them when I got there. His breathing was getting worse and worse by the minute. If we had had to wait much longer, we were headed to er. Ridiculous!!!!!!!!!! Anyway, they got us back. The nurse listened to him and put the pulse oxygen machine on him. Dr Magee came in and confirmed that he heard fluid and started him on a breathing treatment. He gave us a prescription of a steroid too and gave us a nebulizer and prescription for albuterol. I was so excited to own a nebulizer and medicine. I know that's ridiculous but it is such a relief to know that I have something to help my children breathe if this happens again. Anyway, we were instructed to go straight home and do another breathing treatment, do one 2 hours after that, and one every 4 hours around the clock for at least 24 hours. We had to wake him at night too. :(

Monday night was the worst night ever! We had to wake trigger twice to get breathing treatments. Then, Campbell (who also went to dr Magee and was told he had a virus) was up NO LIE every 20-30 minutes screaming. One of us would go in there and change his diaper and rock him. Oh my word. Finally around 330, I decided to change his pjs just in case there was something bothering him. He did have on pjs that were a little too small but he had worn them recently. Anyway, I changed them to some bigger ones and low and behold, he slept from about 4-on. I really wanted to scream!!!!!!
This is how we have spent alot of time. Trigger getting breathing treatments and watching tv. He has been up and down. Hyper on steroids and then begging for a "breathing treat" bc he can't breathe. For awhile, we couldn't make it for the four hours but it's getting better every day.

And because these brothers like to share everything...haha! Little campbell got to start breathing treatments. He has been wheezing a little. Nothin compared to trigger but since we had the medicine, we decided to nip it before it became as bad as trigger. And, that's what dr Magee told us to do. I wasn't just doctoring him myself! ;)
I have to say that Campbell is quite as compliant as trigger. Poor little guy!

I hope We are on the mend because this momma is tired.

Exhausting week wrap up!

Praise the Lord that this week is over. We have had some emotional last couple of weeks. This week we had two huge things in our family: 1. EEG 2. My ultrasound.
We found out last week that the baby has SUA (single umbilical artery OR two vessel cord). I explained it a few posts ago. Most of the time, the outcome is great with SUA. There are some syndromes/disorders/Organ issues associated with SUA. Dr. Harper sent us over to Dr. Jones (maternal-fetal medicine specialist) in Shreveport. He followed us in our pregnancy with Campbell. We did not use him with Trigger. We used Dr. Grooms (another maternal-fetal med spec). We loved him but did NOT like delivering at lsu so we opted to switch to Dr. Jones. I have to be honest. He doesn't have the best bed side manner. And, it's obviously not me bc I've heard that from several other people too. However, he's a great doctor!!!! Anyway, we got an appointment for this past thursday. They scheduled us to have a level 2 ultrasound which is basically more detailed than the normal. I really didn't think that was possible with dr jones bc his ultrasounds are very detailed. I was so nervous that they'd find something terribly my wrong. I so love going there bc you don't have to wait. He sees 6 patients in the morning and 6 in the afternoon and that is IT!!!!! When they did the ultrasound, the lady was awesome. All she does is ultrasounds of high risk pregnancies so she has a very trained eye to find problems. After each series of measuring, she would tell me that that area looked good. The heart, kidneys, stomach, brain, etc looked good. They checked for club foot, clef palette, spinal bifida, etc and there were no signs of any problems. Now, that doesn't mean we are guaranteed that there won't be anything that pops up at delivery but this is a HUGE blessing!!!!!! Oh and let me say that they even measured the baby's blood pressure and identified all major bones in legs and arms. It was definitely more detailed. The only thing is that she couldn't see one side of the heart good so we will have to have that checked the next time we go. We also got to see a good picture of her face. She was opening and closing her mouth and using her tongue to swallow. Absolutely amazing...at only 19.5 weeks!!!!!! What a miracle!!! Oh. And she's still a girl! We were all relieved since the closet is turning more and more pink with each day! ;)
One thing that doesn't really matter for anyone else but they told us that we were missing the left artery.
After we had our ultrasound, we met in dr. Jones conference room. He went over the ultrasound and explained everything again. Then, he gave us the spill on SUA. He said it only happens in 1% of pregnancies. Most of the time, it's just nothing...just a fluke! But, in my case, he said he has to ask what happened to the artery. He said it COULD have been that the baby has my blood clotting disorder and the baby had a blood clot that stopped up the second artery and so it died away. He has no clue what really happened though. I asked about my risks of SUA and my other issues and he said I am a higher (not a huge amount higher, but higher) risk for problems. At this point, the concern would be: A. if there was a blood clot B. IUGR...and growth issues.
He said that we will definitely be seeing him this pregnancy. ;) And, we will be doing some major monitoring of her growth to make sure there are no problems.
BTW, my Bp was great! I wasn't surprised though bc dr Harper just upped my meds and it has been running extremely low (for me)...so, withthe stress of the appointment, it brought it right up to perfect! I'm just hoping this pregnancy, that I can make it to a decent number of weeks before bedrest. We have alot more going on this pregnancy than I have had for the other two. I have two children thAt I'm chasing and my parents and matts parents had trigger every day while I was pregnant with campbell. Plus, we are remodeling. Dirt work starts Monday...slab is SUPPOSED to be poured by the end of the week. I will fall out if it is done by then! Anyway, life is busy and very chaotic. Oh and I had someone (that I will not name...and i know they don't read this blog) say that going from 2 to 3 was a big adjustment for them and they had been told it was easy. I looked at them and said "I fully anticipate it being VERY difficult...I'll have three that are 3 and under". This persons children are spaced out with one in High school. I continued "I won't be able to go anywhere alone bc trigger is a huge flight risk...Campbell will, of course, be a flight risk. I still carry him in everywhere....then add a car seat to lug in. I'm pretty sure I'll have to just stay home!". This person had the audacity to look at me and say "well. You should be fine bc you don't work and get to stay home". Now, believe me! I have done it both ways. I've worked! And it was extremely hard. Staying home is really just as hard but in a completely different way. My house will never, ever be completely picked up bc children are here all day destroying it...I have NO break from my children EVER...wait, scratch that...I do when I go to the dr and when I go to church. It's mentally draining!!!!! Some people should just think before they talk. I'm not saying staying at home is harder...not saying that at all!! I'm just saying that it might seem all rosey from their side of the fence when it's really a very rewarding but absolutely exhausting job.
Okay. Off of that. We are home from church this morning bc both boys are sick. Snotty noses. Irritable. Low grade fever. Irritable. Little cough. Irritable. You get the picture. So we are watching frosty right now to help us feel better!
I'll leave you with this because this is how
We feel after this week!

EEG

Trigger had his EEG on Tuesday morning. I had tried to prepare him as much as possible but I really did not know the exact procedure of northern la medical center's EEG. I did go prepared with a laptop, dvds, and my ipad. When we arrived at the hospital, matt and I got him signed in and headed over to have the EEG done. I was so concerned because Trigger has been throwing a fit when we wash his hair and you just never know how he is going to react. The EEG tech was so sweet. She came to get us from the waiting room and took us to the room to havethe EEG and Trigger started announcing that he needed to go to the bathroom sooooo I took him. He began begging me to take him home. When I told him we couldnt go home, he started pleading to go to "nother doctor". It was so sad! But, we teeteed and went back to the room. I got up on the bed with him.

Matt immediately got a dvd started...mary poppins...that was triggers decision. She showed Trigger everything she was going to do and gave him one of everything she was using (cotton ball, large q-tip, etc) to hold. He was so apprehensive but did soooo good staying calm.

Matt got to be the laptop holder while I was on the bed with trigger.

Trigger did NOT like the electrodes all over his head but he handled it so well. The tricky part...and the part that i was really worried about...was that he had to stay still for about 30 minutes. Anyone that knows trigger, knows that he rarely sits still for a minute! He did great though!!!! I was sooooo proud of him!!!! It was funny because at the end, she said that she needed to flash a bright light in his eyes to see brain activity during that time. She said that if he flipped out, it would be okay bc it was the end of the test. Did trigger flip out? NOPE. He laughed everytime the light flashed. He is (and always has been) so easily entertained!!!!!
All the electrodes were removed but there was still gobs of crisco type gunk all over triggers head. I had promised trigger a BIG icee for being so good. So, t and I headed to get an icee. When I got back in the car and handed him his icee, he looked over and said "this my icee?" I told him it was. He said "WHY?". Haha!!! Did need a big icee? No! But, he really deserved it!!!!

We went home and washed his hair with dawn. Mamaw and liz were keeping campbell at our house. Mamaw had bought trigger a surprise and he was sooo excited about his new john deere tractor. Then, we loaded back up and met matt for lunch at johnnys!
I'm so proud of my big boy!!!! Oh and we don't know the results yet. The neurologist had to look over the test and send a report to Dr Slusher. We should hear at the beginning of next week. Im honestly not worried about the results bc I don't think there is anything wrong. I was more concerned about the actual test! Whew. Glad it's over!
