Day two of Prek…there are just a couple of things to remember. Trigger STILL wanted to go to school. When leaving, he wanted to take his picture by the sign. They did some cutting…and trigger got a sweet little note home. Haha…he does cut a lot at home!!!!!! ;)

Trigger- Day 2
Trigger’s First Day at Cedar Creek
We have anticipated this day…really, I have thought about this day from the moment he was born….the day that I would send my baby off to school. I spent time making sure that everything would be perfect. We bought lots of uniforms…I didn’t mean to buy that many…just kept forgetting that I had stashed some in this place or another and would buy more. SO, he should be good in the uniform dept for awhile. We got his uniform all laid out for the next morning.
Then, we had to take some first day pictures.
Matt and I both took him to school. AND, we HAD to take the traditional first day picture by the cc sign.
We walked him in the building. I prompted him to start unloading his backpack but wasn’t going to go into the classroom. I always tried to keep parents from coming through the door to try to keep tears at bay…PLUS, they are trying to get all the children to unpack their backpack and that is utterly chaotic. So, I hugged Trigger and he bee-bopped into the room without a second thought and we turned to leave. Then, I saw my lifelong friend, Elizabeth, and her little boy, Sam, heading towards their classroom. I had no choice. I had to go back and take a picture of Trigger and Sam….they are BEST FRIENDS! AND, then, I did truly leave!
Matt went to work and Larkin and I went to the CC Pre-K coffee. It was nice to see all of the other mommas.
I have to say that I didn’t cry the whole day. First of all, I am not a crier. Second, I was sooooo excited for Trigger. He is READY for school. I am so glad we decided way back that we would hold him back. When I dropped him off, I didn’t have to worry about whether he would be able to walk down the hall and teetee and get his shirt tucked in, belt fastened, and then find his way back to the correct room. I didn’t worry about whether he would be able to open everything in his lunch box. I didn’t worry about anything because I knew he was truly mature enough…independent enough…confident enough…READY for Pre-K. That might sound silly but I have taught cc Prek and it is very structured and there is a lot expected of the children. If we had sent Trigger last year, he wouldve been frustrated and probably wouldve been in tears. So, did I cry? NO, I didn’t. Now, Campbell will be held back too…the thought of him going next year and doing what Trigger is doing right now….that’s just not gonna happen so we will wait another year!

Trigger- Meet Teacher
Well..the time came for Trigger to finally start Cedar Creek Pre-Kindergarten. REAL SCHOOL. So sad…and soooo exciting. Trigger got to go and see his classroom and meet his teacher before school actually started. When I first walked into her classroom, I was quite overwhelmed. It made me happy and a little sad. His teacher, Mrs. Hall, is now in my old classroom. AND, she has sooo many things that are mine in there…bookcases that I painted…a kitchen that Matt built for me when I started teaching at Cedar Creek.
Anyway, this particular day, we had to go to school and take a picture with alumni/current students. So, Trigger was dressed in his Cedar Creek jersey for that. Then, we headed over to meet his teacher. I wasn’t sure who I wanted for his teacher. I didn’t know Mrs. Hall at all but had heard wonderful things about her. She actually graduated from Cedar Creek with my youngest brother. We LOVE her. She is wonderful. And Trigger LOVES her!!!!!
Library
My friend and I joke because I am a teacher and yet, I have NEVER taken my children to the library. AND, she is a dietician and doesn’t eat a lot of vegetables…she does it veges…just not the ones that I eat. Anyway, I decided to take all three of them…I really had a selfish reason for going. I have been wanting to get my library card…I haven’t had one since we moved back to ruston in 2006…so I could check out books for myself online. WELL, wouldn’t you know, they still had all of my information…it was all wrong but they did have my account still which is amazing since I probably havent checked out a book since 2003. Anyway, I got my card and then we went to check out some books.
We haven’t gone back so I am not sure what that says…it was fine…they liked it but they didn’t really fall in love enough to want to read the books at home. Don’t get me wrong, they LOVE to read books!!!!!! They get to chose two books (plus a bible story) to read every night and they still wanted something off of their collection of books. :)
Trigger- The Art House
This summer I wanted us to have fun. I did NOT want us to have an overwhelming schedule where we were just going from one place to the next. I decided to sign Trigger up for one art camp. Mrs. Rene was one of my mom’s friends and I have been just waiting for him to be old enough to do one of her camps. We love her! Trigger had a lot of fun…it just so happened that he had two of his soccer buddies in his class too which made it even more fun. He painted a blue dog and I LOVE how it turned out…it will hang in his room!
On Friday, Mrs. Rene sets up an art gallery and each artist had to tell all of the parents about their masterpiece. I was proud of Trigger for being able to speak in front of all of those people!

A day in the life…
Life isn’t always grand. I really am shocked by the comments of some working moms…some comments really suggest that we are sitting around in our pjs all day watching tv. I am not about to say that my stay home mom job is harder…it’s not. It’s just different. I have done the working mom thing. It is hard too. The comments don’t even bother me anymore because the person making them are 1. jealous 2. clueless as to what my life is like.
I love my stay at home life but let me tell you…it is DRAINING. I can not tell you how much crying I hear in one day….and the messes that I have clean up… Its ridiculous. This is just a little of what goes on on a typical day.
We usually try to run errands in the morning time when the little people are still rested. This particular day, we went to super one. Melt down because I wouldn’t let him get gummy bears. :(Larkin eats breakfast whenever she gets the opportunity. Poor baby! And, doesn’t everyone hold two babies while eating.
Larkin gets left alone…blue sharpie all over my cabinets in the laundry room. FYI, I tried alcohol, 409, clorox wipes, magic eraser, and a few other things. I was slightly panicked. THEN, I decided to alcohol ON a magic eraser. THAT was the ticket!!!! ONE swipe and it was GONE!
We play a lot during the day…or they play…I clean. I don’t know why I clean because it just ends up messy again.
I attempt to put on makeup and clothes but this is what happens…I have helpers ALL day!
And I finally get someone (larkin) to go off and play so I can finish getting ready….I go to check on her. yep….this is what I found.
Complete with a milk handprint on my couch.
I clean up the milk and go back to get my clothes on and Larkin was playing with the electrical outlet…plugging and unplugging the nabi cord.
Get that all plugged back in…walk into the den and and shes standing on furniture playing with the the blinds cord.
There are lots of kisses and hugs throughout the day.
LOTS of mischief.
Lots of fighting…or getting locked out of the playroom by big brothers.
And at the end of the day, after three little people are in bed, it’s just the two of us…and I love the two of us. Life is crazy. The days are long and the nights are short. BUT, I would trade all of the tears and all of the stress for anything. I love being at home.
