Larkin- 18 months

Miss Larkin turned 18 months on July 6th.  This is so hard for me to believe.  HOW can time be going by so fast???  I NEED it to slow down.  After the fever virus that I spoke about in the last post, we had to take larkin in to be checked to make sure that it was just a virus and nothing else…and for her 18 month check up.  She had just been in a week before for something else.  So, in ONE week, Larkin had lost 2 pounds from that stupid virus.  Dr. Slusher panicked.  She had dropped way down on her growth chart…down to the 3rd percentile for weight.  Dr. Slusher told me that we had to whatever we could to get that weight back up.  I was still nursing and she told me to definitely NOT stop that and to make sure that I was eating a high calorie diet (haha)…and we had to start pumping her with whole milk/chocolate milk with carnation instant breakfast stirred in.  And then had to go back to dr. after a month for a weight recheck. 

I can not tell you how many french fries, shakes, etc that I shoved into her mouth.  She doesn’t really like to eat so it was a daily struggle.  I know that sounds ridiculous but it really was stressful.  She would flat out refuse to eat.   Like to the point that I was making shakes for her breakfast…like mint chocolate chip shakes.  Which she got all excited about and drank about five sips and was done.  IM TELLING YOU …STRUGGLE!!!!!!  She still isn’t a good eater but we had her weight rechecked at 19 months and dr slusher was SHOCKED.  She had gained her weight back…and was right where she was supposed to be on her growth chart.  Glad my persistence paid off!  18 month stats:

20 lbs 4 oz. and 31.75 inches longThis was when she had fever (below)..see her red cheeks  :(Her 18 month check up.Larkin likes to cry a lot when she doesn’t get her way.  She is quite spoiled…we are working on that!  She LOVES shoes and will change her shoes a million times a day.  Larkin loves my jewelry and likes for me to take it off so she can wear it.  Larkins personality is coming out daily…she is a live wire.  Liz told me the other day “you are gonna have you hands full with that one…she is fiesty…you can see it in her eyes”…yeah, because that’s what I need…another big personality child…can’t I have one that is compliant???Larkin still isn’t talking great but she is trying more and more every day.  She has lots of babble like Trigger had.  She says “nooooooo” in the cutest, longest drawn out voice.  Its really cute and she knows it so she says it often!  When Larkin got her shots at her appt, she was sooo very dramatic.  She cried for a LOOOONG time.  And then she cried every time she looked at her leg.  im telling you…DRAMATIC!checking out her leg again…Shes my girl…dramatic, head strong, funny, sassy, fiesty, waddle walkin, little girl!  I love her sooo incredibly much!!!!!

fourth of july

We didn’t spend the fourth of july quite like we had planned.  We had invited a few couples to come over to hang out and let the kids play on the water slide…just hang out…and eat.  I was sooo looking forward to it.  Well, wouldn’t you know that one of my children (larkin) decided to start running fever….actually, she had been running fever all week and I was sure that it wouldn’t last an entire week…I was WRONG.  She had about 5 days of HIGH fever.  Like 102.9-103.7 temps.  HIGH!  So we had to cancel.  I was really sad.  We did have some fun with our little family of five though. 

Larkin even felt good enough (while the motrin was in her good) to play in the water for a little bit.  I know that probably seems wrong to let my child go outside in the heat and play when she had been running fever but this was the happiest she had been all week!And, we shot some fireworks…Campbell, like last year, talked really big about how much he loved fireworks but when it came down to it, SCARED TO DEATH!

These pictures are all out of order but I just don’t have it in me to fix them.  The week prior to July 4th, I had campbell paint a flag.  I LOVE how it turned out!  I wish I had had him paint in on canvas so I couldve hung it in his room!We ate supper outside the night of july fourth.And played candyland while we waited for it to get dark.And then campbell and I sat inside his room and watched trigger shoot fireworks.  I can’t blame Campbell…it was very nice sitting in the cool room, in a comfy chair, where it was quiet, just taking it all in!  :)

Soooo…it was not what I expected BUT ended up being a great day!

Rodeo

After the peach festival parade was over, we ran to get larkin a pair of cowboy boots.  I don’t think that’s actually what we went into pattons for but that’s what we came out with!  Precious little girl needed herself some boots. 

We also decided to go to the rodeo this year.  I will not going to a whole spill about it because time has passed and im over it.  but, I will say that I am not sure if we will go back next year.  it was MISERABLY hot and VERY SLOW!  Of course our friends, the Hogans, met us there. 

Out of the three, Campbell was the most content to watch. Trigger kept asking when we were going to go home and go to bed.  Larkin kept trying to strip off clothes because she was so hot….her whole head was wet from sweat. 

We can check that off…we have done the parade!

Peach Festival- 2013

Like every year, we attended the Ruston Peach Festival Parade in June.  It was fun…hot, but fun!

VBS 2013- Colossal Coaster

This VBS was the BEST vbs yet!  I signed up to the the Prek crafts coordinator again.  I loved the crafts that we did…they turned out so cute!  My boys had THE best time participating in all the different areas (crafts, rec, snacks, etc) and they learned so much!

For one of our crafts, I took the kids pictures in this little picture frame.Campbell wanted nothing to do with taking his picture…zizzy tried really hard!I caught Campbell and Nolan playing together one day!Trigger eating snacks: ice creamCatherine and Miss RebeccaLarkin was so funny.  There was a little girl in her class that fell asleep next to her.  Larkin didn’t really appreciate her head falling on her so she kept elbowing her head out of the way…such a sweet litle Larkin.  :)Larkin ate some ice cream for snack on day.  Mrs. Nelda helped feed Larkin.  Campbell and Sawyer!Nolan and CampbellHere are few pictures of the boys art work.

I scream, You scream, We all scream for JESUS!People of all nations.  God loves EVERYONE!At the end of the week, the children sang the songs that they had sung all week.  So precious.

It was an exhausting week like it always is but so wonderful.  I absolutely love being a part of vacation bible school each year! 

Father’s Day

We celebrated Father’s day with all of our fathers back in June.  We had lunch with my dad and supper with Matt’s dad.  It was a pretty laid back day and was very enjoyable!  I am very thankful for my husband who is a WONDERFUL father!  AMAZING father!  He had a good example to learn from…Mr. Jerry is cream of the crop!  And, my daddy, im not sure if I can say enough wonderful things about him.  I love these three fathers that are part of my every day life and I am so thankful that God placed them in my life!
