Houston Trip- The First Pitch- Part One

A couple of weekends ago we loaded up a bunch of junk for the four of us and headed to Houston.  My dad threw out the first pitch at the Houston Astros game.  I know this had to be one of the most exciting things for my dad.  He has always loved baseball…and always loved the Astros.  My grandfather was drafted to play for the Yankees after college.  He went up to NY for spring training and got homesick because his dad thought it was a waste of his life and that baseball was NOT a way to make a living.  Soooo…my papaw (after meeting Mickey Mantle and several other famous players…he would’ve played with them) came home to work the saw mill that my family owned.  He instilled the love of the sport in my dad.  If you have ever been to my dad’s office, this would be evident to you…he has two rooms full of baseball memorabilia and the whole office is decorated with signed baseball stuff.  Anyway, I say all of this to say that this was soooo a big deal to him.  I so wish my papaw could’ve been there to see him throw out that first pitch but his health would not allow it!

We would not have missed the weekend for ANYTHING.  Just being honest, it was a pretty hellacious (is that really a word?) weekend.  Both boys travelled down there great.  Campbell slept most of the way and Trigger watched Woody and Cars so he was occupied.  As soon as we arrived, I knew that Trigger would have to have a nap if he would make it to a 7:00 game because he usually goes to bed around 7:15.  I’ve had several people ask and YES, we did take the PVC pipe room divider again.  Matt was DEAD SET that we were NOT going to take that divider because the last time he got asked if he was a plumber…and he responded simply, “nope, I’m a CPA”.  Haha…seriously?  If he were a plumber, would he carry pvc pipe around with him?  Anyway, we quickly got the pack and play up and the divider up and put Trigger down for a nap.  Thankfully, my dad is best buds with the manager of The Inn at the Ballpark (the hotel we stay at) and she gave us a key to Seth and Vanna’s room so that I we could watch tv while Trigger slept in our room.  Trigger slept for about an hour.  We had to be over at the stadium at 4:30 (i think) because in addition to throwing out the first pitch, we were all able to be on the field for batting practice.  Here are a few pictures of us getting to the hotel and batting practice.  And, yes, we have on matching shirts…we get them every year when we go to the games for my dad’s birthday.

Bagwell and Berkman…I’m not really that into baseball…I mean I like it because my family is obsessed but I really wanted Bagwell to sign a ball for Campbell and Trigger because as far back as I can remember I have “watched” Bagwell play for the Astros…I have gotten his signature many times but wanted a signed ball for them.  He signed for one guy but that was it.  OH WELL…

I’m not really big on wraps or carriers for babies but I got this Moby wrap when Trigger was about 5 months old and never really used it with him.  It was a LIFESAVOR Houston Astros 063 Rules aren’t made for two year olds…especially cute ones.  Rule #1: Do NOT step on the grass.  Rule #2: Do NOT play in the rocks…definitely do NOT pick up the rocks and throw them!!! ;)

Houston Astros 105 Houston Astros 108 And the game had not even started and Trigger was having meltdowns…here is a picture of his red eyes.

Houston Astros 113 I think Trigger made it for 2 innings the first night before we had to leave.  After the game, my family always eats at Vic and Anthony’s Steakhouse right beside the stadium and hotel.  Matt went on the first night while I stayed back with the boys.

Okay…I think I will stop here for tonight.  That was alot of pictures and alot of typing.  I’ll try to post our Saturday and Sunday later.

Creek Pride!

Oh for those of you that are true Creekers (especially the cheerleaders), the cheer “Creek Pride” probably brings back alot of memories.  That was the cheer that rang out after games when we didn’t win.  The players HATED IT….but that was our tradition.
Anyway, my dad has an add for his company in the CC football program.  The picture is always of employee’s and family’s children.  We just recently took our picture for the add.  I think it turned out great.

CC Football Program 144Of course we also took one of the four Hood grandchildren.

CC Football Program 245  While we were there, Sydney decided that she needed to hold Campbell.  Isn’t Sydney so adorable! And you can’t really tell from this picture of Campbell but he looks soooo much like his cousin Sydney.

CC Football Program 133 Trigger was like a kid in a candy store while we were there.  He was running from one phone to the next and even got on Poppy’s computer.  Do I see a future businessman?!?

CC Football Program 281CC Football Program 288 Uh-oh…Poppy caught me!

CC Football Program 287 This happen to be on Trigger’s 2nd birthday…I will share those pictures soon.  I have alot to sort through!

Oh my…he’s so cute!

Trigger is so dang cute…or at least I think so…that it is sometimes hard to get on to him.  He is told by us and his grandparents that he is cute all the time.  I think he has learned to use that to his advantage.

I put Trigger in this Ragsland outfit a couple of Sundays ago and it was sooooo cute on him that I had to take pictures.

Triggers sailor outfit 046 Triggers sailor outfit 049 Triggers sailor outfit 054 He saw that I was taking pictures and put his hands by his side and stood like a soldier and started saying, “Cheeeeese”.  I thought that was so funny!

Triggers sailor outfit 063That lasted for a second or two and then he started acting like the monkey that he is!

Triggers sailor outfit 064  I just shopped at Kool Kids this week for Fall clothes for the boys and I was hit with the realization that I will not be able to put Trigger in these outfits much longer…mainly for potty training purposes.  I’m already getting sad…I just have the hardest time putting him in shorts/pants and a polo/button up for church.  Every Sunday for the last two years, he has worn a jon-jon, longall, or romper (like above).  Oh my it is going to make sad!!!

MESS…mess…mess!

When we decided that I would be a stay at home mom, the first thing that came to mind was “I’m going to have to clean out that dang room AGAIN”.  It’s kindof a joke between Liz and I.  I (we---me and my family which usually consists of me, matt, LIZ, and daddy…Matt for moving the heavy stuff, Daddy for bringing lunch and occasionally painting and sharpening pencils, and LIZ for EVERYTHING else) have now moved my school stuff SIX times and I have taught for SIX years!  THAT IS AMAZING.  And for those of you that do not know much about teaching Pre-K, we have alot of JUNK treasured possessions.  And, since I taught at a private school, we (us and LIZ) bought almost everything in my classroom…rug, shelves, books, puzzles, manipulatives, etc.  It is absolutely amazing how much stuff I have.  Since I had to move it out pretty quickly so they could hire someone else and let them start decorating their room, we had to store all my stuff in our garage.  I can remember Matt saying that we would rent a storage unit or build a shop (his preference being the shop) and I replied that it was no rush because it didn’t bother me that I had my garage full of stuff…well…NOW IT IS DRIVING ME INSANE.  Here is our garage.

Morning fun with boys AND wood for playset 050Morning fun with boys AND wood for playset 051  All of the stuff in the middle (minus the slide, bed frame, wheel barrow, cement, pool, and boots) is my classroom stuff.  It looks AWFUL and I am embarrassed anytime someone comes to our house.  We have a company out of Shreveport that is going to build our shop for us and guess what will go in it first?!?!  ALL OF THIS STUFF.  Before that happens, I will have to go through all of the boxes because there is alot of stuff that I will get rid of, some will come inside for the boys, and some will just be thrown away! WHEW…hope it cools down before then.

Playset Progress

Matt is outside right now (at 9pm) working on the playset.  At night, after Trigger is in bed, seems like this is the only time he can find to get anything done.  I’m really excited about this playset…it’s going to be massive and I know the boys are going to love it for many years!

Here are the stacks of wood that was delivered last week.

Morning fun with boys AND wood for playset 114 Matt’s dad came over to help.  Here are a few photos of them working…And, of course when Trigger got up from his nap, he had to check things out.

And Campbell came out to visit for a few minutes too.

Look at that last picture…Trigger looks so small compared to the playset!  I’ll keep updating.

Always Something.

With a two year old (Trigger) around, it is ALWAYS something!!!  I wish I could recount all the little things that have caused him to spend time in the corner or receive a paddle (with THE wooden spoon) for in just the last week…it seems as though the list would be a mile long!!! This is just a few of his “adventures”.

First, and please know that this is not the worst shape it has ever been in and that I realize that it is typical behavior, we have his playroom.  This picture doesn’t even do it justice but he had just gotten up and it had only been MAYBE ten minutes.

Morning fun with boys AND wood for playset 053 Then, last weekend, Trigger had gotten quiet and this is how I found him…except he had a sharpie in his hand…it had been taken away by the time I took pictures. :)  He had drawn all over his arm.

Playset Progress- 7-24-10 043AND, if that weren’t enough…he started sniffing the marker that was on his arm.

Playset Progress- 7-24-10 040Playset Progress- 7-24-10 041  And the most recent, Trigger broke Matt’s brand new Oakley glasses.

Matts glasses Matt left his glasses on his nightstand and for some reason Trigger thinks our nightstands are an amusement park…he has been told a million times to not touch anything on them…and he also knows that he is not suppose to  touch Matts glasses.  Thankfully (for everyone) Trigger was taking a nap when I found them which gave me time to cool off.  This is what happened when he got up.

Me: i go into his room and turn on the light. “Trigger,  Mommy is not happy!”

T: he popped up and had his serious look.

Me: I saw Daddys glasses. What happened to Daddys glasses.

T: He took his paci out and said, “day-broke”

Me: “Oh-no…what happened”

T: “gfd%$%mhgfhg (jibberish)” with hand movements

Me: “Did Trigger break Daddys glasses?”

T: “uh-huh”

Me: “Are we suppose to touch Daddys glasses?”

T: “No, no, no”

Me: “Mommy is going to have to spank you and you are going to the corner.” and i did…hopefully he will remember this the next time he’s around Matt’s glasses…i won’t hold my breath!!!

OH…and the ear piece (the temple) is missing…nowhere to be found!!

That boy is going to run me ragged!!!
